As part of my self study i decided to make set of final thirty sequential pictures on stationary bike in fitness studio and name it 'Cycling'. Set was inspired by Canadian YouTuber, stop-motion animator and visual effects artist Kevin Parry. 'His journey into the world of animation began with an introductory animation course in college. It was during these early days that he first discovered stop-motion animation, and he was immediately captivated by the tactile and hands-on nature of the medium.' (Yeetmagazine, 2023)
I set my phone on a tripod in landscape position next to the wall in the studio, with one bike in the middle of the floor and two other bikes out of the camera view for future movement effect. To take a shot, I used the pen that came with the phone, which I found extremely useful. I used the front lens so I could see the scenography, with standard settings listed below
From about 40-50 pictures took that time i selected 30 then created a contact sheet on a contact sheet generator.
I opened Pixlr then clicked on Pixlr Editor, created new canvas, name it 'cycling' and added white background, just as we did last time in class.
I used four pictures, changed temperature to -50 and tint to 30 by clicking on Adjustment on top of the editor. Copy every single picture to canvas and decided to not keep pictures in line but in wave pattern. I added text and chose Amoreiza font, resize to 60, moved to right and used fill gradient brownish to black.
The bottom of the canvas was look empty so I crop it and that is the final look.
I also created short video in Adobe Premiere Pro using all the pictures.
Reflection
I found it very interesting and it got me excited to take and edit those shots. However, I wish I had planned it a bit more to turn it into a masterpiece. I hope in the future I will have a chance to recreate it. There is so much more to discover.
