Art portfolio ONE: Project Statement

For my first project I choose to work on playground equipment as father of four and inner me child. The idea evolve from, old electrical switch, witch i picked from mystery box in class. 

 

I found it very interesting, simple in design and made for it purpose, however it is advanced enough so there is no much need for improvement. I like the sound it makes, the "click" it feel as is solid/strong, feel almost indestructible. 

 

 

 

The switch reminding me about my childhood on my grandparents small farm full of antics and equipment old enough to remember old owners and reborn of Poland ( Poland got it back independence and her place on the map of Europe after 123 years, until 1945 Lower Silesia belongs to Germany), the times I was helping on the field and around the house.

I make a sketch of that switch and start contemplating. My first thought was to create some farming equipment, however is hard to compare with thousand years of experience. Next, something more personal which could help, like hat or a hood, hood hide in a collar... hide in a backpack. From farming to outdoor equipment, hood which protecting from sun, so why not from rain... 2 piece poncho mounted to small backpack. However I can have a tiny poncho in a pocket or a backpack, and the idea died.

Furthermore, my time on farm was till my 20's and Im not only work, but also play with local kids, also as a father I see lack of playground fittings, lots to improve and feel nostalgia to implements of my times.

 

 

 

The theme of the project is Earthly Delight and will include natural curvatures based on organic elements like leaf, shell and water drop.

 

Though the research if found this amazing pace of art, slide shaped of the shell. What bring my attention is simplicity and pleasant for an eye which surprising.
